Entry Requirements

Age: 19 + Entry profile:

You need to have passed, or been made exempt from, the BCS Certifcate in IT and appropriate Diploma in IT modules.
You must be a BCS member to sit the exam.

Progression Route CITP/ CEng or MSc

In order to qualify for this award a person normally needs to have at least 8 to 10 years professional experience in IT, with evidence of experience at a senior level (5) in the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA), have passed a professional competency examination and successfully completed a skills assessment interview with two BCS assessors.

A fast track scheme exists for holders of Certified Architect and Certified IT Specialist certifications from The Open Group, which exempts applicants from the initial review and interview elements of the application process.

In order to maintain a certificate of current competence, demonstrable CPD must be undertaken.

You are now ready to become Chartered IT Professional (CITP) or Chartered Engineer (CEng)

Requirements: CITP

You’re assessed against the criteria set out in the CITP standard
You need to be a member of a professional body licenced to award CITP:
BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT

Requirements: CEng

You’re assessed against the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UK-SPEC)
To register as Ceng with BCS, you need to be a BCS member (Professional grade or higher)
